Strategic Sourcing Manager - Supplies & Distribution (Hybrid- Seattle, Washington)

Job Description

This job contributes to Nordstrom success by effectively developing and leading sourcing strategies supporting our Store, Supply Chain, Distribution, and Supplies Division, effectively managing suppliers and internal networks to deliver best in class performance and experiences for our customers.

Consistently delivers measurable and strategic goals to enable a competitive advantage to bottom-line and top-line company growth, and corporate social responsibility leadership. Manages a global spend of $100 Million plus depending upon market complexity. The Strategic Sourcing Manager is an individual contributor role responsible for the sourcing of Product, Services and Supplies supporting the Supply Chain & Store Services Divisions for Nordstrom.

This role is Remote, but it is preferred you are located in the Seattle, Washington area as they would like you to come into office on occasion in the downtown Seattle office as needed.

A day in the life...

  • Manage the contract life cycle of all spend categories for the Supply Chain & Store Services Divisions as assigned.
  • Develop effective multi-year negotiation strategies to enable success.
  • Leads highly complex cross functional teams and collaborates effectively internally and with suppliers.
  • Employ strong knowledge of key industry players, competitors, and market dynamics.
  • Develop new effective business and professional relationships with strategic suppliers and industry players.
  • Professionally manage and measure suppliers for continuous performance and improvement.
  • Employ advanced program and project management tools, solutions, and techniques.
  • Draft and redline a wide variety of agreements.
  • Effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Independently solve problems and make decisions for primary and strategic execution and tactical issues within the relevant portfolio of projects and or processes.
  • Provide day to day oversight and drive for strong business results.
  • Effectively collaborate with strategic sourcing peers and the Supply Chain & Store Services leadership teams.

You own this if you have:

  • 6+ years procurement analytic, procurement/sourcing manager, planning, supply chain or other relevant experience in retail store services & operations. Experience in category management, strategic sourcing, or procurement required. Experience in supplies, store services, packaging, project management, and billing/invoicing software is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Sourcing category strategy, supplier relationship management, 'should-cost' models, and multi-year negotiation strategies, supplier continuous improvement programs and Lean Initiatives. Distributor/Supplier dynamics & business models
  • Knowledge of critical procurement legal requirements and contracting best practices a plus
  • Knowledge of business ethics and Ethical Sourcing Requirements
  • Ability to influence at an Executive Level both internally and externally. Ability to lead and influence peer groups both internally and externally.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication
  • Strong experience with MS Office Suite, Coupa and others
  • Ability to structure bids, evaluate bids against a broad set of evaluation criteria and provide recommendations for vendor selection.
  • Vendor risk management experience
  • Knowledge of contracting trends, licensing models, and traditional and emerging contract and vendor performance models in the retail industry; expert negotiation tactics and strategies; proven track record of negotiations that result in cost savings and risk avoidance.

The pay range(s) below has been provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different for other locations. Pay offers are dependent on the location, as well as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

$102,500.00 - $170,500.00 Annual This position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401k, medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, Holidays, and more.
