Senior Product Designer, User Experience & Design - Commerce (Mobile App)

JOB SUMMARY

Every journey has the power to shape us and the way we see the world. Begin yours at Marriott International, consistently recognized as one of Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For®.

Join our high-energy User Experience & Design team creating best-in-class mobile experiences for one of the world's most recognized hospitality brands.

As a Senior Product Designer, you will help shape the future of the Marriott Bonvoy App by designing intuitive, engaging, and customer-centered experiences across the travel journey. You will contribute to experiences that support discovery, searching, booking, loyalty, personalization, and engagement, helping create seamless journeys that deliver value for travelers and support Marriott’s broader digital growth goals.

This role is ideal for a senior product designer with strong UX, interaction, and visual UI design skills. You should be able to move confidently from problem framing and concept development through delivery, bringing a strong eye for design, attention to detail, and the ability to create polished, intuitive mobile experiences that feel simple, elegant, and easy to use.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Experience Design and Delivery

  • Lead end-to-end design for mobile app experiences across discovery, booking, loyalty, personalization, and engagement, from early problem framing through production delivery

  • Create user flows, journey maps, wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity designs, and presentations that communicate experience concepts and design solutions

  • Design intuitive mobile-first experiences that balance customer needs, business objectives, platform best practices, and measurable product outcomes

  • Produce strategic experience concepts and development-ready designs with detailed specifications, interaction states, edge cases, and accessibility considerations

  • Use customer research, behavioral data, analytics, experimentation, and business insights to inform design decisions and prioritize opportunities

  • Use AI-enabled tools where helpful for research synthesis, ideation, prototyping, content exploration, and design iteration, while applying sound judgment, quality control, and brand standards

  • Apply and contribute to Marriott’s Design System by using established patterns, components, accessibility standards, and scalable design guidelines

  • Partner with Product Management and Engineering to translate requirements into feasible, scalable, user-centered solutions

  • Facilitate design reviews, workshops, and cross-functional collaboration sessions that create alignment and move work forward

  • Provide thoughtful design feedback, coaching, and career mentorship to other designers, with the potential to support direct people leadership responsibilities

  • Support usability testing, user acceptance testing, design QA, and validation efforts to ensure a high-quality customer experience

  • Present work clearly and confidently, articulating design rationale, trade-offs, and recommendations to peers, partners, and senior stakeholders

  • Collaborate with Design System, Research, Analytics, Product, Engineering, QA and cross-channel UX design partners to deliver cohesive customer experiences

  • Stay current with UX, mobile design, accessibility, AI-assisted design, personalization, and industry trends, applying what is relevant to improve products and experiences

YOU’RE EXACTLY WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR IF YOU:

  • Create intuitive, elegant experiences that balance user needs, business goals, technical constraints, and brand standards

  • Advocate for customer-centered design, accessibility, inclusive design, and UX best practices across cross-functional teams

  • Think in systems, journeys, and behaviors, not just screens, and can translate ambiguity into clear experience direction

  • Communicate ideas effectively through visual storytelling, prototypes, journey narratives, and executive-ready presentations

  • Influence decisions through data, customer insights, product thinking, experimentation, and strong design rationale

  • Use AI tools thoughtfully to speed up exploration, synthesize inputs, and prototype ideas while maintaining high standards for accuracy, originality, ethics, and customer trust

  • Bring curiosity, strong craft, good judgment, and ownership to complex customer and product problems

  • Thrive in ambiguous environments and independently drive solutions forward while bringing partners along

  • Balance strategic thinking with attention to details, accessibility, and execution quality

  • Collaborate seamlessly with Product Management, Engineering, Research, Analytics, Content Design, QA, and Design System partners

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 6+ years of experience in UX, product design, interaction design, or a related discipline, with demonstrated experience in native app design.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience

  • Proven experience designing mobile applications and responsive digital experiences for large-scale consumer products

  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles, usability standards, accessibility, inclusive design, and interaction design best practices

  • Experience creating end-to-end customer experiences across discovery, onboarding, conversion, engagement, retention, and service moments

  • Strong understanding of customer segmentation, personalization, experimentation, and data-informed design practices

  • Demonstrated experience creating wireframes, user flows, journey maps, prototypes, design specifications, and high-fidelity designs

  • Advanced proficiency with Figma, component-based design workflows, prototyping, design system usage, and modern handoff practices

  • Working knowledge of AI-assisted design, research synthesis, prototyping, content exploration, and productivity workflows, with an understanding of responsible use, privacy, and quality control

  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation skills

NICE TO HAVE

  • Experience designing loyalty, membership, travel, hospitality, retail, commerce, marketplace, or subscription-based experiences

  • Experience working within established enterprise design systems and contributing reusable patterns or guidance

  • Experience using qualitative and quantitative research, experimentation, funnel analytics, or behavioral insights to inform design decisions

  • Experience designing personalized, AI-enabled, conversational, or adaptive digital experiences

  • Familiarity with mobile platform conventions, motion design, micro-interactions, and accessibility standards such as WCAG

  • Familiarity with Agile and SAFe development methodologies

7. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE FILES, LINKS, AND TABS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
