Role Description

At Amgen, our mission is to serve patients by transforming the promise of science into life-changing medicines. In this vital role you will lead the Corporate Affairs product communications strategy for MariTide, translating the Obesity & Related Conditions Corporate Affairs vision into integrated communications that support launch readiness, commercialization, lifecycle management, and future indication expansion. Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Corporate Affairs, you will serve as the Corporate Affairs lead for MariTide, ensuring product communications, content, digital, and executive communications work together as one cohesive strategy. You will partner closely with Commercial, Medical, Regulatory, Market Access, Enterprise Communications, and other cross-functional leaders to align Corporate Affairs priorities with business objectives while preserving the function's trusted role in scientific communications, disease education, stakeholder engagement, and reputation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Corporate Affairs product communications strategy for MariTide across launch readiness, commercialization, lifecycle management, and future indication expansion.
  • Develop differentiated product narratives grounded in science, patient insights, and unmet need that reinforce MariTide's value and long-term impact.
  • Translate the broader Corporate Affairs strategy into integrated communications plans that engage patients, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide strategic counsel to senior leaders on product communications opportunities, risks, and reputation.
  • Lead integrated communications planning for MariTide, establishing priorities and ensuring alignment across Corporate Affairs and cross-functional partners.
  • Represent Corporate Affairs within cross-functional launch planning and governance forums.
  • Partner with Commercial, Medical, Regulatory, Advocacy, Market Access, and Enterprise Communications to ensure coordinated execution around key product milestones.
  • Identify opportunities to amplify scientific, regulatory, and commercial milestones through strategic Corporate Affairs communications.
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the Product Communications, Content and Digital Communications organization.
  • Lead the teams responsible for editorial strategy, executive thought leadership, internal product communications, owned channels, patient storytelling, scientific storytelling, and digital engagement.
  • Drive an integrated content ecosystem across earned, owned, and digital channels while leveraging analytics, audience insights, and emerging technologies to optimize impact.
  • Coach and develop direct reports while fostering a collaborative, high-performing, and innovative team culture.
  • Partner closely with the Senior Director, Global Media Relations to ensure product communications strategy informs earned media engagement, executive visibility, thought leadership, and issues preparedness.
  • Ensure seamless coordination between product communications and media relations to deliver a consistent external narrative for MariTide across all stakeholder audiences.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and influence decisions across a complex global matrix organization.
  • Lead agency partners and communications investments with clear accountability for measurable business outcomes.
  • Build strong partnerships across the Obesity Corporate Affairs leadership team to deliver an integrated communications approach.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree & 6 years of product communications experience OR
  • Master’s degree & 10 years of product communications experience OR
  • Bachelor’s degree & 12 years of product communications experience AND
  • 6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources.

Requirements

  • Executive-level experience leading Corporate Affairs or Product Communications for a late-stage or commercial biopharmaceutical product.
  • Experience supporting major product launches, commercialization, and lifecycle communications.
  • Experience leading integrated product communications in partnership with Commercial, Medical, and other cross-functional functions.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing communications teams.
  • Experience overseeing content strategy, digital communications, executive thought leadership, and internal product communications.
  • Experience partnering with media relations leaders to deliver coordinated product communications strategies.
  • Ability to translate complex science into compelling communications for diverse stakeholder audiences.
  • Ability to influence senior executives and lead through a highly matrixed global organization.
  • Executive presence, organizational leadership, and business acumen consistent with an Executive Director role at Amgen.
  • Experience using communications analytics, audience insights, and AI-enabled communications tools to optimize strategy and impact.
