STEP Intern
Purpose & Need<br><br>Patel, Greene and Associates (PGA) is seeking a motivated and curious STEP Intern to gain hands-on experience while contributing to transportation engineering projects. Available in our Orlando, Bartow, and Tampa offices, the May-August program offers exposure to PGA’s core disciplines, Roadway, Drainage, Structures, and Traffic/ITS, as well as Planning, Landscape Architecture, Facilities Preservation, Marketing, GIS, PD&E, Design Development, and Environmental. Interns will work alongside staff on real project design tasks, exploring the many facets of the transportation industry.<br><br>What You’ll Do<br><br><ul><li>Gain proficiency with construction plans production</li><li>Understand the concepts of geometry design</li><li>Understand the development of pay item quantities and calculations</li><li>Understand the process for development of a project cost estimate</li><li>Effectively research projects and assist with marketing efforts</li><li>Gain knowledge in all design standards, manuals, and criteria</li><li>Requires regular technical supervision of tasks by technical or senior staff</li><li>Complete tasks and projects within established supervisor’s expectations</li><li>Support technical and senior staff with the development of plans, documents, and reports</li><li>Compile documents in PDF for review or submittal<br><br></li></ul>What’ll You’ll Need<br><br><ul><li>Enrolled in an ABET Accredited Engineering Program</li><li>Reliable form of transportation is required<br><br></li></ul>What You’ll Bring<br><br><ul><li>Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills</li><li>Great verbal communications skills and the ability to interact with a variety of personality types</li><li>Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards in all work efforts</li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team on deadline-driven activities</li><li>Skill in working with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and other Office Products<br><br></li></ul>Working Conditions<br><br><ul><li>The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. </li><li>While performing the duties of this job including working on a computer, the employee is regularly required to sit for prolonged periods at a desk; use hands, handle, or feel, talk, and hear. </li><li>The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. </li><li>The employee must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities. </li><li>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often exposed to outside weather conditions. </li><li>Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. <br><br></li></ul>If you meet some of the criteria listed but not all, we still encourage you to apply.
