<strong>Role Details & Schedule<br><br></strong><ul><li>Work Location: 100% Remote (EST is MUST) </li><li>Hours: Part-Time (20–28 hours per week; shifts structured in 5- to 6-hour blocks; 4–5 shifts per week) </li><li>Schedule: 8:00 AM EST start time; potential weekend morning availability <br><br></li></ul><strong>Role Overview & Primary Responsibilities<br><br></strong><ul><li>Content Quality Control: Copyedit editorial pieces, show titles, descriptions, and social content to ensure accuracy, proper style, clear structure, and legal soundness. </li><li>Workflow Management: Coordinate continuous copy flow among editors, fact-checkers, and a team of up to a dozen editorial staff members. </li><li>Website Maintenance: Build, format, and maintain digital pages using WordPress and custom digital publishing tools. <br><br></li></ul><strong>Required Qualifications & Hard Skills<br><br></strong><ul><li>Copyediting Experience: 2+ years of professional copyediting experience for a daily, weekly, or monthly publication or high-volume publishing/journalism environment. </li><li>Style Guide Mastery: Strong command of AP and Chicago styles. </li><li>Technical Proficiency: Experience with Content Management Systems (WordPress) and web-based production tools. </li><li>Editing Mechanics: Exceptional command of English grammar, line editing, structure, tone, punctuation, and proofreading under tight deadlines. <br><br></li></ul><strong>Soft Skills & Competencies<br><br></strong><ul><li>Deadline Pressure: Proven ability to manage high-volume turnaround times in a fast-paced environment. </li><li>Collaborative Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to partner effectively across a multi-editor copy desk. </li><li>Editorial Judgment: Ability to go beyond surface-level proofreading to evaluate stories for taste, legal issues, sentence flow, and journalistic integrity. <br><br></li></ul><strong>Preferred Experience<br><br></strong><ul><li>Sports & Culture Domain Knowledge: Sports-editing background (or high comfort reading sports copy) and familiarity with pop-culture content. </li><li>Digital Media Production: Background in digital publishing, web media production, and deep feature editing. <br><br></li></ul><strong>Role Challenges & Profile Exclusions<br><br></strong><ul><li>Strict Role Focus: Requires a dedicated copyediting background in publishing, journalism, or corporate communications. </li><li>Non-Matching Backgrounds: Candidates whose experience is exclusively in general marketing, copywriting, social media management, public relations, or TV production will not align with this position. <br><br></li></ul><strong>Other Requirements<br><br></strong>The target hiring compensation range for this role is $25/hr to $28/hr.
