DevSecOps Engineer- LGY Remote / Telecommute Jobs

DevSecOps Engineer- LGY

Location: Remote

Description:

Seeking a skilled DevSecOps Engineer to support the LGY Development, Security, and Operations 2.0 program. The DevSecOps Engineer will support an initiative that connects Salesforce, S-Docs, AWS, and VA Notify to deliver reliable, high-volume outbound Veteran communications - including case correspondence, notifications, and generated documents. The role spans solution assessment, hands-on development, and DevSecOps delivery: evaluating whether the proposed architecture can meet high-volume email and notification requirements, then building, testing, and deploying the integration components that make it work in production.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assess the end-to-end communication workflow across Salesforce, S-Docs, AWS, and VA Notify

• Evaluate S-Docs' ability to generate accurate, consistent HTML/PDF templates, and identify data dependencies, automation triggers, and governance controls needed to maintain template quality at scale.

• Examine AWS Lambda's processing capacity, queueing strategies (e.g., SQS, dead-letter queues), and monitoring capabilities

• Validate the overall solution against operational expectations for scalability, security controls, auditability, observability, and enterprise compliance alignment.

• Document findings, architectural decisions, and identified risks/issues to support traceability and future governance reviews.

• Produce formal solution documentation - data flow diagrams, sequence diagrams, design considerations, and decision logs - to align technical teams, business stakeholders, and support groups.

• Build and refine Salesforce data models, integration components, error-handling logic, and orchestration needed to support end-to-end processing

• Implement AWS components such as API Gateway endpoints, Lambda functions, SQS queueing, dead-letter queues (DLQs), logging/monitoring pipelines, and services that write delivery results back into Salesforce.

• Automate configuration management, secrets management, and access controls across the integration layer in accordance with federal security baselines and least-privilege principles.

• Integrate application security scanning (SAST/DAST/SCA) into CI/CD pipelines supporting this and other integration workstreams.

Required Skills:

• Experience in DevOps/DevSecOps or software integration engineering roles, ideally supporting federal government or VA programs.

• Hands-on Salesforce development experience, including Apex, Flow/Process Builder, Lightning Web Components, and REST/SOAP or Bulk API integration patterns.

• Experience with a Salesforce document-generation/templating tool (e.g., S-Docs, Conga, or similar), including HTML/PDF template design, data dependencies, and automation triggers.

• Experience building serverless AWS integrations, including API Gateway, Lambda, SQS/DLQ patterns, and CloudWatch-based monitoring and alerting.

• Experience designing or supporting high-volume, fault-tolerant integration pipelines (e.g., outbound email/notification systems), with attention to throughput, API limits, and latency.

• Practical experience integrating automated security testing (SAST, DAST, SCA) into build and release pipelines.

• Working knowledge of NIST SP 800-53, the Risk Management Framework (RMF), FISMA, and the federal Assessment & Authorization / ATO process.

• Experience with automated testing practices, including high-volume/load testing (50,000+ transactions) and regression test automation.

• Experience deploying through CI/CD pipelines across multiple environments (dev, QA, UAT, production), including tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.

• Scripting and automation proficiency in Python, Bash, and/or PowerShell.

• Strong written communication skills, with the ability to produce solution documentation (data flow diagrams, sequence diagrams, decision logs) for both technical and government audiences.

• Must be a U.S. citizen

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance / favorable suitability determination.

Desired Skills:

• Direct experience with VA Notify or a similar notification-as-a-service platform (e.g., GOV.UK Notify) for outbound email/SMS delivery and status/bounce reporting.

• Direct experience supporting VA programs, including familiarity with VA Handbook/Directive 6500, the VA Technical Reference Model (TRM), and the VA ProPath SDLC methodology.

• Salesforce certifications (e.g., Platform Developer I/II, Integration Architecture Designer) and/or AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Developer, Solutions Architect).

• Experience with federal GRC/ATO management tools such as eMASS or Xacta.

• Experience with SIEM and log management tools (e.g., Splunk, ELK Stack) supporting continuous monitoring.

• Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility standards and testing tools.

• Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation).

• Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery teams on federal contracts.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

• Five (5) years of experience

Common Interview Questions And Answers

1. HOW DO YOU PLAN YOUR DAY?

This is what this question poses: When do you focus and start working seriously? What are the hours you work optimally? Are you a night owl? A morning bird? Remote teams can be made up of people working on different shifts and around the world, so you won't necessarily be stuck in the 9-5 schedule if it's not for you...

2. HOW DO YOU USE THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

When you're working on a remote team, there's no way to chat in the hallway between meetings or catch up on the latest project during an office carpool. Therefore, virtual communication will be absolutely essential to get your work done...

3. WHAT IS "WORKING REMOTE" REALLY FOR YOU?

Many people want to work remotely because of the flexibility it allows. You can work anywhere and at any time of the day...

4. WHAT DO YOU NEED IN YOUR PHYSICAL WORKSPACE TO SUCCEED IN YOUR WORK?

With this question, companies are looking to see what equipment they may need to provide you with and to verify how aware you are of what remote working could mean for you physically and logistically...

5. HOW DO YOU PROCESS INFORMATION?

Several years ago, I was working in a team to plan a big event. My supervisor made us all work as a team before the big day. One of our activities has been to find out how each of us processes information...

6. HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE CALENDAR AND THE PROGRAM? WHICH APPLICATIONS / SYSTEM DO YOU USE?

Or you may receive even more specific questions, such as: What's on your calendar? Do you plan blocks of time to do certain types of work? Do you have an open calendar that everyone can see?...

7. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE FILES, LINKS, AND TABS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

8. HOW TO PRIORITIZE WORK?

The day I watched Marie Forleo's film separating the important from the urgent, my life changed. Not all remote jobs start fast, but most of them are...

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
