Technical Co-Founder / Founding CTO

Company: Atlas
Location: Remote, with a preference for someone based in the United States
Compensation: Founder equity; no salary at the current pre-funding stage
Stage: Pre-MVP

I’m looking for a full-stack developer to help bring a real vision to real life: a better alternative to traditional professional networking platforms that connects Gen Z graduates with real jobs and meaningful professional relationships.

About Atlas
Atlas is a candidate-first hiring and career platform designed to support people throughout the professional journey—from finding the right opportunity to joining a company and building meaningful professional relationships there.

The initial product will allow candidates to upload a CV, confirm an AI-structured professional profile, set their preferences, receive relevant job matches, apply through a transparent process, coordinate verified references, and transition directly into onboarding after accepting an offer, all in one seamless current.

For employers, Atlas aims to make early-career recruitment and onboarding more efficient, transparent, and human.

Our mission: Build a better path from job to life.

The opportunity:

I am looking for a technical co-founder to take ownership of Atlas’s engineering and help shape the product from the beginning.

This is not a freelance development assignment or an unpaid employee position. It is an equity-based founding role for someone who wants to build and lead a company over the long term.

Atlas is currently pre-MVP. I have already developed the product vision, user journey, business model, feature roadmap, brand direction, initial prototype concepts, employer pilot strategy, and market positioning. The next stage is validating the product with employers and candidates while developing a focused MVP.

What you would do:

  • Define Atlas’s technical architecture and development roadmap
  • Build the initial candidate and employer experiences
  • Develop secure CV-upload and profile-creation functionality
  • Integrate AI for structured data extraction and role matching
  • Design the backend, database, authentication, and permissions systems
  • Establish strong privacy and security practices from the beginning
  • Help determine which features belong in the MVP
  • Participate in customer interviews and employer pilot discussions
  • Recruit and lead future engineers as the company grows
  • Contribute to fundraising, strategy, and major company decisions
  • Initial MVP

The first product will likely include:

  • Candidate account creation
  • CV upload and structured profile generation
  • Candidate profile confirmation and editing
  • Job preferences and eligibility information
  • Candidate-to-role matching
  • Employer candidate review
  • Application-status tracking
  • Structured reference verification
  • Basic offer and onboarding workflows

The goal is not to build the entire Atlas vision immediately. We will create a narrow product that can support a real employer pilot and expand based on evidence.

Who I am looking for

You may be a strong fit if you:

  • Have experience building full-stack web or mobile products
  • Can independently take a product from concept to functioning MVP
  • Understand modern frontend and backend development
  • Have experience with databases, authentication, APIs, and cloud infrastructure
  • Are comfortable integrating AI models into practical user workflows
  • Care about privacy, security, and responsible use of candidate data
  • Think like a product owner rather than only an implementer
  • Communicate directly and explain technical decisions clearly
  • Are willing to challenge assumptions and simplify the product
  • Want to make a serious, long-term founder commitment

Experience with React, React Native, Flutter, TypeScript, Python, Supabase, PostgreSQL, or similar technologies would be useful, but the exact technology stack is not predetermined.

About the founder

My role will focus on company strategy, product direction, customer research, employer partnerships, operations, branding, fundraising, and go-to-market development.

I am looking for a co-founder whose technical strengths complement my experience and who wants genuine ownership of both the product and the company.

Compensation and commitment
This is currently an equity-only co-founder position. Atlas has not yet raised outside funding, and there is no salary at this stage.

Equity, responsibilities, vesting, decision-making, time commitment, and founder expectations would be agreed transparently after an initial working period. Standard founder vesting would be used.

The preferred process is to begin with a short trial project before making a permanent co-founder commitment. This allows both founders to evaluate communication, reliability, product judgment, and working compatibility.

Why join now?
Joining at this stage means helping define:

  • the product architecture;
  • the MVP;
  • the engineering culture;
  • the company’s AI and privacy principles;
  • the founding team;
  • and the long-term direction of Atlas.

This role is for someone who wants to build the company alongside me—not simply receive specifications and write code.

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
