Job Description

Strategic Sourcing Specialist — New Product Development
Pay rate: $45 per hour
Location: Columbus, IN
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 hours per day; typically 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with some flexibility
Work arrangement: Hybrid — 3 days onsite and 2 days remote

About the opportunity
Kelly is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Specialist to support an industry-leading diesel engine manufacturer. In this role, you’ll work with Engineering, Procurement, project teams, and suppliers to source products and services for new product development. You’ll help identify suppliers, negotiate commercial agreements, manage costs and timelines, and address risks as products move toward launch.
What you’ll do

  • Support supplier selection and sourcing activities for new product development.
  • Identify and evaluate suppliers, including product availability, capabilities, pricing, and terms.
  • Negotiate with vendors and contribute to supplier agreements and contracts.
  • Manage cost, quality, and delivery considerations to support project goals.
  • Use cost targets and should-cost analysis to inform sourcing recommendations and financial decisions.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Procurement, project teams, and suppliers to keep work aligned.
  • Identify and mitigate supplier, technical, and project risks.
  • Review purchasing documents and contracts for alignment with company policies.
  • Analyze market conditions and delivery systems to assess current and future material availability.
  • Maintain accurate sourcing and supplier documentation.

What you’ll bring

  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Relevant experience in new product development, technical sourcing, procurement, or a related area. Five or more years is a guide, not a hard cutoff; relevant experience matters most.
  • Experience working closely with suppliers and negotiating commercial terms or agreements.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work across technical and business teams.
  • Experience managing project costs, quality, timing, or risk.
  • Familiarity with cost targets, should-cost analysis, or similar financial tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and negotiation skills.

Skills-based hiring
We welcome applicants whose relevant skills and experience demonstrate they can succeed in this role. Candidates do not need to match every qualification exactly to be considered.

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?
