Senior Manager (Accounting, Assurance, Tax) w/ a unique partnership opportunity
About the firm
Office CPA is a boutique, growth-focused professional services firm specializing in remote delivery of full-service accounting & tax solutions to private companies across Canada. Core offerings include cloud accounting, bookkeeping, compilations, tax compliance and planning, assurance, advisory, and fractional CFO services. We produce and maintain long-term client relationships by providing exceptional value through creative planning and close, personalized attention to our clients.
About the position
This is a hands-on senior managerial role focused on reviewing compilation and assurance engagement files, managing personal and corporate tax engagements, directly addressing complex areas of accounting, overseeing key client relationships and mentoring team members. Following a structured onboarding period, the goal is for the Senior Manager to gradually assume the engagement partner role for many engagement files currently overseen by the Founder and Managing Director.
The firm’s back-office services—including cloud bookkeeping, payroll and AP processing, and a newly established fractional CFO offering—represent an increasingly in-demand segment of our practice. In this role, you will play a key part in growing this recurring business by adding strategic oversight, financial planning, and business performance review to the internal reporting produced by our team.
Team resources reporting to the Senior Manager will include a full-time Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant, Junior Accountant and a bookkeeper. The firm also works with an experienced Tax Principal who leads tax, estate planning and corporate reorganization projects.
Why this opportunity is unique
This is a unique opportunity as the successful candidate will be working directly alongside the Founder / Managing Director; a well-rounded professional with over 18 years of experience. The objective of the Founder is to transition and share key leadership responsibilities with the Senior Manager, creating the foundation of a strong leadership team to guide the strategic growth of the firm.
To support the firm’s growth, we are committed to hiring additional staff at junior and experienced levels, with the stated goal of maintaining a healthy work/life balance for the whole team as we truly believe that human capital, specifically the knowledge, skills and mental health of our people, is our greatest asset.
Partnership opportunity
There is a compelling and extraordinary partnership opportunity available for the Senior Manager with a passion for driving value, who demonstrates strong technical skills, sound professional judgement and leadership abilities, a positive, forward-thinking, collaborative attitude, and a proactive spirit.
The ideal candidate
This role will be offered to an experienced, confident, and hyper-organized CPA with exceptional technical skills and attention to detail, who can effectively manage relationships with clients and staff, who can manage a wide variety of engagements and can take on increasing levels of responsibility.
The core focus of this role is on delivering high quality detailed review, demonstrating a continuous commitment to delivering value and providing service that aligns with our clients’ best interests. The ideal candidate approaches their work with a critical and strategic mindset, regularly asking:
- Have we considered all available options to accomplish our reporting and/or tax planning goals?
- Do these financial statements make sense? Are they misleading?
- Is our accounting workflow / procedures logical, efficient and effective?
- Is there a more innovative, efficient or value-enhancing alternative?
- How can we help our clients improve the accuracy and relevance of their reporting?
- Are we reducing our client’s tax burden sufficiently and within an appropriate risk profile?
