Remote School Occupational Therapist for 2026-2027 Year

TalkPath Live partners with schools to provide teletherapy services to students, during school hours, and is currently hiring licensed and experienced occupational therapists on a contractual (1099 position; some W2 contracts available depending on the state) basis for the 2026-2027 school year. You may tell us the days of the week and the hours within the school day when you would like to work. It can be more challenging for OTs to get full-time equivalent caseloads in virtual, school-based settings. This may be an ideal opportunity for those seeking part-time equivalent hours.

We have needs in the following states:

Illinois

New Mexico

Tennessee

Texas

We will reach out to qualified candidates to schedule a Zoom interview in states in which we have needs. We do not have COTA, or COTA supervision openings at this time.

If we do not have needs in the states(s) in which you are licensed, we welcome the opportunity to discuss cross-licensing in another state or time-zone, for fee reimbursement, over the summer to be ready for the upcoming school year!

If you are interested in making a transition from a medical, clinical, or home health environment, please come chat with us! We support those who want to try something new.

This is a truly rewarding opportunity for caring therapists who are looking for flexible hours, autonomy, and a deep sense of fulfillment that comes with affecting a real impact in their students' lives.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Therapists should be independent, creative, flexible, and comfortable working on their own computers from home
  • Excellent communication skills via email and phone
  • Full licensure in your state of residence, allowing independent clinical practice
  • Full licensure in state(s) where TPL is hiring, or willingness to become licensed
  • Department of Education credential (in states that require it, or willingness to obtain)
  • Functional understanding of electronic devices
  • A reliable Internet connection and a private space or office, free from distractions, in which to practice

Preferred, but not required:

  • Experience with schoolbased practice
  • Experience providing remote, virtual services

Support and Reasons to work with us:

  • A paid orientation is provided
  • Flexible scheduling and respect for your availability (during school hours)
  • Responsive leadership team of SLPs who answers your questions quickly
  • Templates for the logistics of practice to reduce administrative time
  • Comprehensive assessment library
  • Opportunities for growth and leadership
  • Support to crosscredential or license with reimbursement in mutually agreeable states
  • Support and resources if you are transitioning from a medical or home health setting to schoolbased telepractice

Several years ago, I was working in a team to plan a big event. My supervisor made us all work as a team before the big day. One of our activities has been to find out how each of us processes information...

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
