Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough virtual consultations with patients to evaluate eligibility for medical marijuana programs, ensuring adherence to state-specific guidelines.
- Review patient medical histories, current medications, and health conditions using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Document detailed clinical assessments, treatment plans, and certification decisions accurately within secure digital records.
- Stay informed about evolving state laws and regulations related to medical cannabis use to ensure compliance and best practices.
- Educate patients on the benefits, risks, and responsible use of medical marijuana as part of their overall healthcare plan.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance by safeguarding patient information during all virtual interactions and documentation processes.
Qualifications
MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE CERTIFYING MEDICAL MARIJUANA PATIENTS
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution with active licensure in any state; post-residency experience preferred.
- Proven experience in clinical settings such as family medicine, internal medicine, emergency medicine, or specialty fields like neurology or psychiatry.
- Familiarity with EHR systems, EMR platforms like Epic, and medical imaging tools is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare diagnosis, pharmacology, and patient assessment techniques.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with patients remotely and collaborating with healthcare teams.
- Ability to interpret medical records and diagnostic data accurately to inform treatment decisions.
