Head of Social Studies | January 27
Universal American School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed and outstanding Head of Social Studies to join our team of passionate educators in January 2027.
This position includes responsibility as Curriculum Leader for the Social Studies Department, offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced and ambitious educator to shape the continued development of Social Studies at UAS.
The successful candidate will lead and inspire colleagues to deliver engaging, challenging and high-quality learning experiences for all students. They will drive curriculum development, assessment and departmental improvement, foster collaboration and professional growth within the team, and promote consistently high standards of teaching, learning and student achievement.
The successful candidate will have:
• A bachelor’s degree in a related field plus a certified teaching qualification such as B.Ed/M.Ed PGCE/PGDE or equivalent
• Experience leading a successful Social Studies Department or held a 2ic position and looking for an opportunity to lead in an outstanding school
• A passion for consistently delivering outstanding lessons to their students
• The ability to share outstanding practice with colleagues
• The ability to work well in a team and with other colleagues
• The desire to develop and grow professionally
• A creative and enthusiastic approach both in and out of the classroom
• Excellent IT and interpersonal communication skills to work closely with students and parents
• Experience of teaching in a diverse, international school environment (desirable although not essential)
• The desire to work within a team of highly supportive and creative colleagues
