The Opportunity

As the Director of Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) for International Partnerships and New Ventures, you will be instrumental in ensuring that all suppliers and distribution centers providing products for Chipotle restaurants in our international markets adhere to our high food safety and quality standards. This position involves 50-60% travel, both domestically and internationally. In this role, you will develop strategies to mitigate food safety risks and promote quality across the supply chain. Your leadership will support the safe and successful opening of new locations, ultimately enhancing the Chipotle experience for our international guests.

What You'll Do

  • In partnership with international operators and the domestic Chipotle FSQA team, develop and implement a comprehensive food safety and quality assurance strategy for international partnerships and joint ventures that uphold Chipotle's industry-leading standards.
  • Work as a partner with our supplier base and distributors to evaluate current programs and help them implement industry leading food safety and quality programs.
  • In partnership with international operators and the domestic Chipotle FSQA team, develop and implement risk mitigation strategies tailored to each market's unique challenges.
  • Align international FSQA practices with Chipotle's global food safety standards while considering local regulations and cultural nuances.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with international franchise partners and joint venture stakeholders.
  • Own the FSQA content and updates of the Chipotle Playbook, ensuring it remains relevant and effective.
  • Conduct regular assessments of international partners to ensure compliance with Chipotle's food safety standards.
  • Conduct food safety and quality assessments at distribution centers and suppliers (as needed).
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and track food safety and quality metrics across international partnerships.
  • Create crisis management protocols for food safety incidents in international locations.
  • Implement quality control measures to maintain consistency in service and product delivery across all international locations.
  • Act as the FSQA Subject Matter Expert (SME) to facilitate communication between the RSC and international partners.
  • Oversee the QIP program for all products and ingredients.
  • Work with our supplier and laboratory partners to analyze data, collect samples and update necessary business and quality documentation.
  • Establish procedures for data collection with our suppliers, utilizing Statistical Process Control (SPC) to analyze results.
  • Work with project leads on food safety and process improvement projects and summarize results.

What You'll Bring To The Table

  • Bachelor of Science in Food Science, Food Microbiology or related technical field required. M.S in Food Safety or Food Law preferred.
  • 10+ years experience in food safety leadership, food manufacturing, retail, or food service.
  • 5-8 years supervisory experience.
  • Experience with and strong working knowledge of international regulations
  • Ability to analyze data, perform statistical analysis, and proficiency in MS Office.
  • Deep understanding of FSQA fundamentals.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to develop and implement training programs.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills to facilitate collaboration with diverse teams.
  • Cultural sensitivity and adaptability to tailor training materials to specific regional needs.
  • Proficiency in utilizing technology for remote monitoring and quality assurance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address FSQA challenges effectively.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of service and product quality.
  • Ability to travel internationally as required.

Pay Transparency

A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $178,000.00$259,000.00. You are also eligible for annual cash bonuses and equity awards based upon performance and other factors. Actual compensation offered may vary depending on skill level, experience, and/or education.
