Communications Writer - Entry Level, Remote
Role Summary
This is an entry-level position in communications and public relations. You'll work with clients on strategic messaging, media outreach, and communications campaigns. You'll have the opportunity to learn from experienced team members, develop your writing and communication skills, and grow into more senior responsibilities over time. No prior experience in public relations is required—we provide full training.
What You'll Do
Writing & Content Creation
Draft and edit communications materials including press releases, social media content, messaging documents, and other written content. Work alongside experienced team members to develop clear, compelling messaging aligned with client goals. Review and refine materials to ensure accuracy and quality before distribution.
Client Support & Communications
Assist in managing client relationships and day-to-day communications. Help prepare materials for client meetings and calls. Support the development of communications strategies and campaign planning under guidance from senior team members.
Media & Outreach Support
Assist with media research and outreach efforts. Help identify relevant media opportunities and develop story angles. Support pitching and positioning activities under supervision.
Crisis & Issues Support
Help develop and draft materials for crisis and reputation management situations, including statements and talking points. Monitor industry developments and media coverage to identify potential issues. Work with senior team members to provide client counsel and support.
Team & Agency Contribution
Collaborate with team members on projects and deliverables. Contribute ideas for improving processes and service delivery. Participate in team meetings and agency initiatives. Manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with strong attention to detail.
Digital Tools & Technology
Become familiar with digital communications platforms, social media tools, and analytics software. Learn to use AI-enabled research and writing tools to support your work and improve efficiency.
Skills & Background Needed
High school diploma or equivalent required. Some college coursework or professional experience in communications, writing, or related fields is helpful but not required. Strong writing and communication skills are essential. Ability to work independently and ask for help when needed. Comfortable learning new tools and technologies. Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks. Interest in public relations, communications, and media relations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and social media platforms. Willingness to learn AI-enabled tools and digital communications best practices.
