Side Loader Equipment Operator (Automated Truck Driver)

Under immediate supervision, is responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of side loader truck. Collects materials and provides collection service to the citizens of the City of San Antonio on any assigned route. Transports collected materials to appropriate City disposal or processing facilities. Commerce</span></li><li style=" padding: 0px; margin: 0px;">Southeast Service Center - 1318 SE Loop 410 Access Rd </li><li style=" padding: 0px; margin: 0px;"><span style=" color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: left; text-indent: 0px;">Northeast Service Center - 10303 Toolyard </span></li></ul><br><span style=" color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: left; text-indent: 0px;"><strong>Work Schedule </strong></span><br><span style=" color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: left; text-indent: 0px;">6:30 AM - 4:30 PM Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday (4 days a week/10 hour shifts)<br></span><ul><li>Operates and maintains side loader truck.</li><li>Prepares vehicle for daily assignment by performing pre-trip inspections.</li><li>Maintains personal protective equipment and prepares safety equipment to be used during the workday.</li><li>Collects all materials from assigned route, frequently lifting and carrying brush or bulky waste weighing 40 pounds.</li><li>Unloads collected materials at disposal or processing facilities.</li><li>Prepares driver's report at the end of the day to report any malfunctions with the truck.</li><li>Cleans cab of assigned truck at the end of the day and washes truck once a week.</li><li>Courteously responds to citizen's inquiries about departmental services and programs.</li><li>Delivers literature which identifies acceptable and non-acceptable materials.</li><li>Operates assigned vehicle in a safe manner in accordance with all safety rules and traffic laws.</li><li>Performs other related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.</li></ul><ul><li>Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.</li><li>Six (6) months of experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL or completion of the Solid Waste Management Department's Apprentice II Program or the completion of an SA: Ready to Work CDL Training Program.</li><li>Valid Texas Commercial Class "B" Driver's License.</li></ul><strong style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;" data-pasted="true">Applicant Information</strong><br style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;"><ul style="padding-left: 2rem; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 3pt; color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;"><li>Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months.
