Senior Custodian (Grade 9)

Salary will be determined based on education and experience at the time of offer.</span></strong></em></u></p><div data-empty="true" style="text-align: justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><strong>NATURE OF WORK</strong></div><p style="margin: 6pt 0; text-align: justify;">Under minimal supervision, assists the Custodial Supervisor with leadership and guidance of custodial teams to ensure high quality of service is maintained; commutes between multiple County buildings to perform work of routine difficulty in cleaning, custodial, and delivery duties; this position has countywide responsibility.</p><div style="text-align: justify;"><em>(Illustrative Only) </em>Supports daily operations in an environment with high expectations and complex requirements, ensuring consistent service quality with existing resources; leads custodians in sweeping, vacuuming and mopping floors in hallways, stairways and departments/offices; wipes, dusts and polishes furniture and metalwork; assists in providing quality assurance and supervision and performs quality assurance inspections for all areas; assists with coordination and planning of daily activities and continuation of scheduled project work; works with Custodial Supervisor to develop and maintain task schedules and to resolve any problems that might arise; assumes responsibility for daily operation of custodial division in absence of Custodial Supervisor; cleans and polishes woodwork, walls, windows and window blinds; empties recycle bins and trashcans; straightens and arranges desks, chairs, bookcases and other office furniture; cleans, sanitizes and stocks supplies in restrooms; cleans water fountains and wash basins; cleans outside areas and walkways, including removal of trash and other debris; identifies and reports facility repair needs to Custodial Supervisor; maintains inventory of supplies and monitors usage levels and patterns; performs routine equipment maintenance; performs floor maintenance services such as stripping, waxing, buffing, polishing, etc. of various types of hard floor finishes, and shampooing, extracting, etc. on carpeted surfaces; trains staff in the proper techniques and usage of equipment and chemicals; performs minor maintenance repairs including replacing soap, paper towel and toilet paper dispensers, and light bulbs as needed; maintains communication with Custodial Supervisor on daily operations and/or any issues that arise; identifies and reports safety hazards; regular and reliable attendance is required; performs other duties as assigned.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: rgb(223, 53, 12);">High School Diploma or GED equivalent; AND four years of custodial experience; AND six months of supervisory experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience; must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license; must obtain and maintain annual ISSA certification.<br><br><strong>County:</strong> Requires successful completion of a background check.<br><br><strong>Sheriff’s:</strong> Must successfully pass a background check to the satisfaction of the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify">Knowledge of: County policies and procedures; the materials, methods and practices used in cleaning and sanitizing buildings and grounds, and related custodial operations; floor care equipment, i.e., buffers, vacuums, floor scrubbers, etc; carpet equipment and extraction; occupational hazards and safety precautions.<br><br>Skill in: Maintaining safety standards; following written and verbal instructions; communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; assigning work to teams, training personnel, monitoring their performance, correcting deficiencies and leading personnel; effective organizational processes, problem solving and time management; using practical mathematics; the use of tools, equipment and materials common to trade; effectively utilizing computer systems and application software; inspecting the quality of work performed and resolving technical problems; maintaining complete and accurate records and preparing clear and concise reports. <br><br>Ability to: Organize work to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner; lift 40 pounds; work in varied extreme weather conditions; bend, kneel, squat, pull, and push on a repeated basis; establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers; follow written and verbal instructions; stand and bend; walk and stoop; perform the essential functions of the job specifications with or without a reasonable accommodation.<br><br><strong>Work Environment:</strong><br>The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling;
