Join us!<br><br><strong>Job Summary And Qualifications<br><br></strong>The Nurse Extern delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living. Under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN), the Nurse Extern assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with the Nurse Extern’s skills/training and the needs of the Department, and consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment. The Nurse Extern is currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited school of nursing, has completed the first semester of nursing basic coursework. As the Nurse Extern progresses through the nursing program, they can perform higher-level procedures once competency is achieved.<br><br>Your responsibilities will include:<br><br><ul><li>Providing essential care for patients by helping with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene</li><li>Performing nursing tasks like wound care, catheter care, collecting specimens, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and grow in your competency</li><li>Documenting care accurately and communicating timely updates with the nursing team to keep patient care seamless and coordinated</li><li>Helping patients and families understand their care plans and offering guidance for their health and recovery</li><li>Keeping patient areas clean and safe by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and maintaining an organized environment</li><li>Championing your growth and enhancing patient care by engaging in learning opportunities, sharing ideas to improve care, and partnering with your supervisor or preceptor to build your personal career development plan<br><br></li></ul>What qualifications you will need:<br><br><ul><li>Currently enrolled and in good standing at our *Tier 1* accredited schools of nursing is required</li><li>1+ years of nursing school completed </li><li>This position is for the 4 Center department</li><li>Current BLS required <br><br></li></ul><strong>Benefits<br><br></strong>Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center, offers a total rewards package that supports the health, life, career and retirement of our colleagues.
