Merchandise Planner

About the position

The Merchandise Planner is responsible for driving strategic demand planning that supports profitable growth across DTC channels. This role is pivotal in maximizing sales, maintaining healthy in-stock levels, improving speed to market, and optimizing the product assortment through data-driven insights. The ideal candidate blends analytical expertise with strong cross-functional partnership, enabling efficient buying execution, accurate OTB management, and timely inventory decisions that align with market trends and consumer demand.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze weekly sales, inventory, and SKU productivity across DTC channels.
  • Monitor market trends and sell-through data to identify demand opportunities.
  • Produce clear reporting highlighting risks, opportunities, and assortment/inventory recommendations.
  • Own the Demand Plan for Personalization, ensuring alignment with commercial and seasonal needs.
  • Manage and maintain accuracy of the OTB tool.
  • Present data-driven scenarios incorporating forecasts, inventory turn, and promotional impacts.
  • Recommend seasonal and in-season stocking strategies for core, carryover, and new product launches.
  • Partner with Regional Merchants to align on assortment, buy quantities, and inventory strategy.
  • Drive monthly planning deliverables, including buy recommendations and speed.
  • Participate in key business reviews, offering insights to guide strategic decisions.
  • Identify workflow or system inefficiencies and propose enhancements.
  • Support planning tool evolutions, system transitions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, analytics, mathematics or a related field preferred.
  • At least 2+ years of experience in data analysis, reporting, and strategic planning, preferably in retail.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI).
  • Experience with inventory management systems and forecasting tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting complex data clearly to stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
