Job Overview

The Enterprise Credit & Fraud Risk Management team at American Express is responsible for developing and deploying predictive models, analytical solutions, and AI-powered technologies to drive profitable decisions across risk, fraud, and marketing. The team is divided into three job families: Decision Sciences, Strategy and Insights, and AI Research. As a Hiring Analyst, you will be part of one of these job families and will be responsible for analyzing large amounts of data, developing innovative solutions, and driving business outcomes through advanced analytical techniques.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze large amounts of data to derive business insights and create innovative solutions
  • Leverage the power of closed-loop data through the Amex network to make decisions more intelligent and relevant
  • Innovate with a focus on developing newer and better approaches using big data and machine learning solutions
  • Ideate and contribute to innovations to help solve business problems
  • Read, understand papers in AI and ML, and use the concepts to come up with novel ideas
  • Perform proof-of-concept (POC) on ideas and concepts to test feasibility
  • Contribute to product strategy and roadmap; recommend the nature and scope of present and future state of AI platforms
  • Contribute to patents and publication of research

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • An MBA, Master's Degree in Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • For AI Researcher - Bachelor's/Master's/PhD in a quantitative field like Computer Science, Operations Research, Statistics, etc.
  • 0-6 years of experience in analytics, big data workstreams
  • Functional skills/capabilities: ability to drive project deliverables to achieve business results, ability to work effectively in a team environment, strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to learn quickly and work independently
  • Technical skills/capabilities: analytics and insights, data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, programming skills in languages like SAS, R, Python, Hive, Spark, SQL

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Experience working in a remote environment
  • Experience with cloud technologies like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Experience with deep learning, natural language processing, or other advanced AI techniques
  • Experience with agile development methodologies
  • Certifications in data science, machine learning, or AI
